Fort Ancient
You remember the first time you heard The Police, The Cars, The Shins, or Television. And you'll remember the first time you heard Fort Ancient, too. You'll remember the unique sound and the energy.
How does the future sound to you? It sounds like Fort Ancient.
Transplanted Kentuckians Rance Piatt and Joshua Weill have evolved a two-man, lo-fi, home recording project into a full-fledged, five-piece wall of indie synth pop.
With Scotty Kawczynski pitching in on laptop and keyboards and the battery of Kristen Swenson on drums and Matthew Mills on bass, this Brooklyn band has been together less than two years, and already played such acclaimed music venues as the Knitting Factory, Pianos, Arlene's Grocery, Luna Lounge and Sin-e' in New York, the Crocodile Cafe' in Seattle and Boston's T.T. The Bear's Place.
The band's first release, a self-titled EP, gained a following on indie radio (KEXP, Seattle // East Village Radio, New York), and garnered worldwide exposure on Internet sites such as Gothamist.com, SXSW award-winning webzine Trampolinehouse.com, photo gallery and review sites Jenyk.com, Crashinin.com, and the French answer to Spin Magazine, Concertandco.com.
The latest EP, I Believe In Tornadoes, has garnered airplay on even more stations, including Indie 103 (Los Angeles), radioindiepop.com and Italy's Radio Friuli and Fort Ancient was the only unsigned band featured in the "Trainspotting" section of Rockpile Magazine (Jan. '05)
