The Hidden came storming out of the gate fully formed, like Athena emerging from the head of Zeus. Their music is a dark and pummeling maelstrom of short, catchy song blasts. Singer/lyricist Kevin Grant's unique mix of hardcore fury and soaring melody creates a sound not unlike a combination of Danzig, HR, and Morrisey. The Hidden fucks with hard rock convention by taking standard punk and metal riffery and compacting the exploding shards into sharp-edged mayhem.

The Hidden's debut, The Hymnal EP was recorded in Feb. 2003 with Steve Albini and Electrical Audio Studios, and Albini's raw touch brought out the band's zinging punch and melody - it came out this winter on Boston's Traktor7 Records. They're back in the studio March '04, so look for more touring and a full-length later this year.
