Textures

Promise

Textures is called the promising act for the Dutch metal scene by some people. Internationally renowned metal magazine Aardschok called Textures "an extraordinary, talented band which has delivered an album of international potential." The Netherlands' most popular music magazine, OOR, talked about "the best Dutch metal album ever made"

There's a large scale of words to define Textures' sound: Dynamic, progressive, refreshing, aggressive, atmospheric. The use of modern, electronic instruments and uncommon tools isn't avoided in the least. Influences are gained from dozens of musical genres. Still, the complex songs remain accessible to any music lover.

Self-supportive

Textures want progress without concessions. At the end of 2001, the band members built a studio of their own to record the debut album, Polars. The production, mastering and artwork were left completely in the hands of the band. In the summer of 2003, the promotional version of the 55-minute CD appeared. The reactions were overwhelming without exception.

Polars reflects every aspect of the band. The song structures, lyrics, musical styles and the personalities within the collective. Polars contains eight tracks which make clear that Textures is larger than the sum of its parts.

Highlights

Immediately after Polars was completed, the promotion machine exploded. Radio and magazine interviews followed. Textures was asked to appear as the support act for Sepultura in de Effenaar, Eindhoven. Also, they shared the stage with the Swedish thrashers The Crown on two occasions. At the end of November 2003, Textures won the coveted Metal Bash contest for their list of achievements. Not only did they obtain the "Igor" award, they also got offered to play together with praised by Machine Head.

Due to the increasing demand for gigs and media attention, the band decided to join forces with management and booking agency Loud Noise (Green Lizard, The Crown). Shortly after, they joined Listenable Records. Polars will be released in Europe on March 8th 2004, worldwide on April 26th.
