Shadows Fall
Massachusetts-based thrash metal quintet Shadows Fall, arguably last year's breakthrough OzzFest artist, are about to release their fourth full-length release, The War Within. The band recorded the album once again at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts with Zeuss (Hatebreed, Blood Has Been Shed, Sworn Enemy). Shadows Fall is a band that understands the delicate balance between sonic brutality and beauty and the band's expertly crafted fourth album, The War Within, reaches that equilibrium and, in doing so, raises the bar once again for all that follow.
The group, who constantly sold more albums than any other second stage artist for over five weeks in a row on last year's OzzFest, proved that American audiences want to hear real metal bands again, not rap-rock schlock or nu metal pop. The exposure gained from OzzFest led to the band taking part in a portion of the 4th annual Take Action Tour 2003 that also included Poison The Well and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Immediately after the Take Action Tour, the band left to take part in the first annual MTV2 Headbanger's Ball Tour, that also featured Lamb Of God and Killswitch Engage. Shadows Fall benefited greatly from all this exposure and watched their fan base, and sales, explode. The Art Of Balance has since gone on to sell well over 150,000 copies while continuing to reach hundreds of new fans week after week, laying an impressive foundation for The War Within to be one of the most hotly tipped releases of the year.
The goal with The Art Of Balance was to set up Shadows Fall for bigger and better things and that is exactly what was accomplished. Now the stage is set for The War Within to hit in a major way. The band will be on the road all summer long as part of The Strhess Tour with As I Lay Dying priming the masses for the impending release this coming September 21st.
Shadows Fall will reroute the path that hard music takes in 2004 and lead the revolution going forward.
