Darlington
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Darlington started in 1995 playing a fierce brand of punk pop lodging somewhere between the classic '77 sound and the skatecore of the early '80s. Over the years the band has released five albums and numerous 7"s and EPs, and singer/guitarist/songwriter Christy Brigitte Darlington has earned the reputation of a street pop hitmaker. The single "Marcia Brady" charted # 3 on Rodney Bigenheimer's Rodney on the ROQ Top 20 Request list for L.A.'s own KROQ, "Holly" made it to #8 on CMJ music magazine's top ten college cuts chart, "Marcia Brady" was spun on Howard Stern's radio show, and "Emotional Wreck" made it to #60 on the adventure club radio show's top 60 countdown. This brand new album, Euthanize Me, manages to avoid the typical "street punk" limitations with a healthy combination of youthful vigor and a love of good pop songwriting. There's a rough-hewn charm to these tracks, an awkward outcast feel borrowed with respect from Mr. Costello that manifests itself all over the album; this is snotty, attitude driven punk rock with more than a few skateboarding anthems.
