Cracktorch

Cracktorch formed in 1996 as a side project for Quintaine Americana (Roadrunner Records) bassist Marc Schleicher and The Vehicle Birth (crank! Records) guitarist Chris Jackson. Cracktorch soon became full-time as they found themselves playing with heavyweights Queens of the Stone Age, Mission of Burma, and the Murder City Devils. Based on their sonic live show, Cracktorch was selected as a wild card in the 2001 WBCN Rock & Roll Rumble. The band breezed through to the finals, converting the press and hundreds of fans along the way. Their album, Cracktorch ...is not the problem (Curve Of The Earth Records) received critical acclaim, including six Nominations at the 2002 Boston Music Awards and taking home the award for "Best Hard Rock Band of the Year."

The album …is not the problem was subsequently licensed to Lunasound Recordings (Supersuckers, Roadsaw) for worldwide distribution. Recording sessions soon began to fulfill numerous compilation requests, most notably with Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies, Hole). The year was rounded out road-testing material for a new album & was chosen to appear in a nationwide ad campaign for Sure Microphones. In 2003, Cracktorch recorded their follow-up album, Tonight The City, with Grammy Award nominated producer Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Blue Man Group). Through stubborn resourcefulness and D.I.Y. attitude, Cracktorch will not take no for an answer.
