The Radio Hour

CMJ's New Music Report endorses the band The Radio Hour as its A&R PICK. This track ("The Killer on the Kennedy") is from the band's latest self-titled CD release, and sings to the urban undoing and road rage along Chicago's Kennedy Expressway. The Radio Hour is the songwriting and production effort of Chicagoan Tim Hort. The sound might interest fans of Pink Floyd's Animals or The Wall, or Peter Gabriel Up or Us, or Smashing Pumpkins. Chicagogigs.com defines the CD as "a mix of dreamlike musings and melancholy stories, dynamic guitars and masterful lyrics." The CD is self-produced and D.I.Y. Illinois Entertainer writes, "terrifically chilling," while it "sings of homicide, suicide, and surviving these unspeakable times." The CD was engineered by Blaise Barton (credits include Bob Dylan, Ike Reilly, and Liz Phair). The Capital Journal Times - Madison writes, "confessional lyrics, melodic hooks, and a dark and sometimes psychedelic spin. That's Chicago's Radio Hour." If you're looking for brooding, surreal and an originally retooled mid-'70s analog feel, you might want to check the CD out.
