Suplecs

New Orleans has always been known as a town for eating, drinking, shit-kickin' and damn good music. Be it Big Band, Jazz, Blues or Rock and Roll, this town offers up some of the best anywhere. So, it's no surprise that a band like Suplecs should be any different. Formed by Danny and Durel after the demise of Malignant Minds and N.O. Industry in 1996, the two finally struck on something that fit and the rest is history... as they say. After the addition of Andy to the lineup, the guys hit the ground running, playing local show after local show. Suplecs were an instant hit on the bar circuit. Fusing local roots music with their own twist on what is rock, the band developed an infectious and groove laden spit of sludge and murk. It was inevitable considering the un-temperate climate that is New Orleans and the constant depravity and utter crooked nature the town is known for. If a touring band was rolling through town, a call was made to Suplecs to insure a packed house. However, at the end of '96, Durel made a decision to relocate and the band looked as though it would exist no more. It was at this time that Danny took up residence with another local outfit, Eyehategod (which he played in from 1997-2000) and what seemed to be etched in stone, only turned out to be temporary as Durel returned home. The Suplecs were back together...

Having released their debut album, Wrestling With My Lady Friend on the now-defunct Mans Ruin label, Suplecs established themselves as a Southern doom band to reckon with. Backed with both fanfare and critical acclaim, the band has clocked in two U.S. tours, one with Eyehategod and the other with Alabama Thunder Pussy, a Warp Tour, a SXSW showcase, and two CMJ Conventions. Not to mention the various headlining tours they've done and played with bands like Clutch, Biohazard, High On Fire, Zeke, Clearlight, and Nashville Pussy. It was at these events that saw Suplecs steamrolling right over the top of their unsuspecting fans like a vicious predator awaiting in the shadows. Only to leave behind a wake of destruction, confusion, and a bad itch or two.

The air is thick with humidity and dust that sticks to you like a statutory rape charge. Yet, that's just the way Suplecs like it... and so will you once you experience them for yourselves. Suplecs are here to enlighten the world to the joys of Southern doom and hospitality.
