Pensive
Pensive has a lot to think about. But despite what their name might suggest, these thoughts are far from melancholyand with good reason. Rooted in the California pop-punk scene that spawned Green Day, blink-182, and the Offspring, Pensive brings a new note to the power pop chord with the recent release of their new EP, Something About the Stars. Six songs strong with shrewd production by Will Salazar (Fenix TX), Pensive showcases the ever-present melodic hooks, catchy every-kid lyrics, and fast punk edge that have made the band a favorite in their hometown San Diego scene. Hot on the heels of a slot on nationally distributed punk compilation A Different Shade of Green: A Tribute to Green Day, alongside such big name artists as Weezer, this new release promises to thrust the band into the national limelight, and America is already on top of it. As each track has been made temporarily available on MP3.com, it has simultaneously appeared high on the MP3.com Pop Punk Chart, while the permanently available track "The 3rd of July" held at the #1 slot for 76 days. And as a demonstration of Pensive's cross-over potential, the band ranked on the Top 40 Chart for 48 days with "The 3rd of July," at its peak reaching #14. With a tight, energetic stage show that is a consistent draw, thanks to a large, loyal Street Team mobile across the country, enthusiastically spreading the Pensive word, this is a band living their dream to play music every day.
