Daisycutter
Daisycutter formed during the cold throes of winter 2001, when lead singer Scott Matalon and bassist Johnny P. began playing and songwriting together with an ear to starting a new, original band based on the music they loved best.
Scott, with a long history on the Boston scene singing with Squid! and modern art, had a vision of combining the new electronica & synth revolution with powerful and melodic, classic hard rockin' tunes.
After Scott's amazing internet experience with Stumpworld Systems, he was finally able to set up his dream project studio, Music Lane, and spend all of his time focusing on creating original music.
John, an accomplished musician known for his work with Entrain, The Biscuit Boys, and The Bogus Quartet, knew that the rock bottom needed by Daisycutter would be steeped in the deep roots of r&b and soul. Working relentlessly, John and Scott forged these elements into a potent, post-modern brew...
Deep in the Music Lane laboratory, the duo defined and refined the Daisycutter sound, writing and producing well over three dozen songs while also working with DNA guitarist Dave Henriquez, Bentmen drummer Frank Coleman, ex-Flexie drummer Chris Willett, and long-time Aerosmith creative guru Kieth Garde.
Lead guitarist Mike Deangelis joined the band in September 2002. Well-known for his incredible guitar work with perrennial Boston favorites Against All Gods and The Hangouts, Mike's fluid style perfectly complements John and Craigs' solid low end and Scott and John's super-tasty vocal harmonies.
Drummer Craig Matalon, brother of lead singer Scott, completes the band line-up. Craig has played many years with New-York-based Perseverance, Hangman's Jury, and has been heavily influenced by Danny from Biohazard and the Appiece brothers. It has long been a dream of the brothers to work together, and they are finally united in Daisycutter!
