Crisis

Originally hailing from the mean streets of NYC, the band was formed in 1993 when Afzaal and former drummer Fred Waring decided to put together a female-fronted metal band. A mutual photographer friend put groundbreaking vocalist Karyn Crisis in touch with the two musicians. Bassist Gia Chaun Wang was found through a newspaper ad and later invited into the band. During their first rehearsal, Karyn, just like in live performances, became so enthreshed with the music and so livened because of it that she broke the mic stand and ended up on the floor. The powerful dynamics of Crisis began there, but have only become more incredible. The band was signed to Too Damn Hype Records and released their thirty-five minute and eight-song debut 8 Convulsions on the label. From there, they were signed to Metal Blade Records on which they released Deathshead Extermination in 1996 and The Hollowing in 1997.

The band toured relentlessly, including a tour in Europe where they were well received. Although they have since broken off their deal with Metal Blade, the band still writes and records and tours with enthusiasm like none other out there. For them, music is their life. They are all as dedicated to it as it is to them. And the music that they create together is magical and enthralling. One cannot help but notice it on first listen. At last, in the beginning of 2000, they moved to Los Angeles in search of a new and better record deal and to shake things up on the West Coast. After a brief period of playing gigs as SkullSick Nation, Crisis is back at it. They've just recorded eight songs with famed producer Billy Anderson and are in the process of trying to secure a record deal for the upcoming album.

The present members include original members Karyn Crisis, Afzaal Nasiruddeen, and Gia Chaun Wang, with the welcome addition of guitarist Jwyanza Hobson. In addition, they've picked up Josh Florian from Baltimore as their new drummer. Despite their 10 year history, this metal band has only just begun...
