Blacktail's draftees culled from Boston exp. noise rock progenitors La Gritona, Cast Iron Hike, and Luca Brasi prosecute a sonic abstraction layer aggregating, transforming and targeting disparate sound sources: drums roll... drums rock, guitars abstract and deconstruct rock, bass steeps in the pits only to rise up and spit comment on all rock idiom. Bt's initial installation, Styrofoam Island, continues in the tradition of the Amphetamine Reptile and SST early catalogs, blistering noise with dynamics.
