Rob Falgiano

Buffalo, NY's Rob Falgiano has been crafting bittersweet, melodic pop songs for more than 15 years. His fifth independent full-length CD - Things I Used to Know - was released in June, 2003. Falgiano's melody-based music has been compared to artists and songwriters like Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), Elliott Smith, Neil Finn (Crowded House), James Taylor, The Housemartins, The Smiths, Elvis Costello, and David Byrne.

The new CD's a mixed bag of styles and genres. There's traces of pop/alternative, country, bossa nova, and other Brazilian/Cuban rhythms, a little techno/disco here and there, folk, and some of the feel of classic pop standards like Sinatra.

His influences include: Rufus Wainwright, Soul Coughing, Smoking Popes, Paul Westerberg, Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Billy Bragg, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Hoagy Carmichael, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra.

Falgiano has opened for more than a dozen national recording artists including: Goo Goo Dolls, The Pushstars, 10,000 Maniacs, and 54'40. He's earned a number of honors over the years, including First Prize Honors in the 1998 Conan O'Brien College Band Search (with a previous band), narrowly missing the Grand Prize of performing on the show. He was recently nominated Best Original Acoustic Act (2003) for the second consecutive year by the Buffalo Music Awards.

His favorite guitar chord is Amaj7.
