While many of todays rock bands struggle album after album to find a distinctive voice, the members of Dedspace have found a style entirely their own in the three years that they've been together. They draw from influences as disparate as The Smiths, Joy Division, and A Perfect Circle, juxtaposing minimalist textures against massive hooks and Spector-esque guitar tones (think Interpol meets Failure). During their live shows, undercurrents of electronic noise and intercepted radio signals merge fluidly with driving beats and haunting vocal melodies to create a truly inimitable experience. As the Boston scene holds its breath for the "next big thing," This Light Year continues on the path of constant self scrutiny and invention, carrying their music past the established boundaries of the alt/indie rock aesthetic to the forefront of a new modern space rock movement.
