The Rocking Horse Winner
With the release of Horizon, The Rocking Horse Winner firmly establish themselves as one of todays premiere acts emerging in the burgeoning independent rock movement in the U.S. Conjuring up images of new beginnings, endless possibilities and setting suns, the band beautifully reminds listeners of those emotion filled days remembering friends, loves, and better times. The opening track; "Orange Blossom;" immediately draws you in with its upbeat melodies and Jolie Lindholms soul searching vocals. Throughout the record; The Rocking Horse Winner challenges fans with its unique blend of jazz-infused indie rock on songs like "Error" and "Curable." The urgency of "When Song Birds Sing" and "Miss You" takes hold of the listener as the band showcases the diversity and character of their enduring songs.
Horizon, The Rocking Horse Winners second album and first for Equal Vision Records, is the next step in the bands ascension into the national spotlight. Producer James Paul Wisner (Dashboard Confessional and Further Seems Forever) delivers possibly his best work behind the board on his second collaboration with the band. The Rocking Horse Winner have spent 2002 on tour supporting their debut release logging miles with The Juliana Theory, Sensefield, Brandtson, The Weakerthans, and Hey Mercedes. Festival appearances include Krazy Fest and Macrock. The fruits of this diehard work ethic include a devout fan base, rave reviews, and numerous features in underground and mainstream press. The band was recently featured in Seventeen alongside Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional and has an upcoming piece in Alternative Press.
After recently completing work on a video for the track "Miss You" off of Horizon, The Rocking Horse Winner will be on tour the rest of the winter and spring of 2003 with bands like Coheed and Cambria and Onelinedrawing.
