The Quarterhorse

The Quarterhorse play minimalist rock to be served loud. Including members of the Olympia, WA based Destro, the Quarterhorse came to be in the summer of 2001. Destro alumni Aaron Stevens and Matt Lebens joined another Yakimite by the name of Evan Yamakawa who would add bass to an already thick sound.

In the fall of 2001, the band hit the road en route to Chicago, IL to record at Electrical Audio. On the way, the band broke down in Ellensburg, WA; broke down again just outside of Moses Lake, WA; played a show in Missoula, MT; broke down again somewhere in the middle of Montana; played a show in Milwaukee, WI; and spent time at Bong Recreation Area (WI). After having spent two days in Chicago, the band headed south to New Orleans to play the Dixie Tavern. While in N.O., the band was on Bourbon Street and was able to be a part of the set of the hit series Going to California. Three hours after the TV debut, an arm wrestling match would ensue that would determine bed or floor. From N.O., the band headed to Oakland and then back to Olympia.

Since the recording trip, the band has played Vancouver B.C., Missoula, Arcata, Eureka, Oakland, Seattle, and Olympia. At this time, the band is wanted in nine states.
