The Milwaukees
Though only founding members Dylan Clark and Dave Post grew up together, the four current members were, in all likelihood, separated at birth. All were influenced by early-nineties post-punk and indie rock bands such as Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh, Teenage Fanclub, and Nirvana, and they all have a fondness for classic rock.
The Milwaukees have released two CDs. Missile Command (2000, Childlike Records) received critical acclaim and has been licensed in Canada and the UK. A six-song EP entitled The Bland Comfort of Life With Lloyd Justin (Does Everyone Stare?, 2001) followed and captured the raw energy of the bands live performances. The band has toured substantially throughout the US and Canada, playing colleges, bars, theaters, and basements The Milwaukees second full-length record, This is a Stick-up, produced by John Agnello (Jawbox, Dinosaur Jr) is the bands best work to date, showcasing their power and songwriting prowess.
"The Milwaukees emerge here with a sharp and very mature sounding guitar pop record. Blending big riffs and soaring vocals, This Is a Stickup is a marvelously produced and crisp-sounding release. Having heard only small amounts of the band in the past, I was immediately impressed with the breadth of sound heard here. Quite often beginning quietly and in the most non-threatening of manners, the songs on This Is a Stickup slowly build momentum before hitting thunderous crescendos before gently fading back to calm. Tracks like "Jet Clipper," "Call An Ambulance," "Berlin Wall," "Angel With a Knife," and "Jazz Is" all balance a volcanic edge while never abandoning their precise melodies. A dazzling record." - Rich Quinlan, Jersey Beat #73
