Near Life Experience
Near Life Experience was formed in 1995 by Steve and his brother, drummer Craig Nunemacher (notable for his work with Zakk Wyldes Black Label Society and Crowbar). Although Craig moved on to the aforementioned ventures, Blaze pushes forward with guitarist Sam Poitevent, bassist Paul Starnes, and energetic drummer Dennis Papaleo. Day Of Silver Sun is the cumulative result of Steves multi-faceted influences, and each song reflects a defined maturity. Blaze elaborates, "I think when we first started out, I had so much of this deep, dark emotion in me. I just think there's a heavier, more direct, more
mysterious, ethereal kind of feel to the new album."
Despite his diverse track record, Steves latest endeavor possesses a modern rock appeal, while harboring tendencies toward the underground with profound groove-laden, doom, and aggressive components. "We wanted to make amazing, powerful, dark music that would move mountains," says Blaze. "When I listen to what friends and other people say, I hear Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age with a touch of Tool, Type O Negative, and Black Sabbath. The music is very emotional and its main characteristic is the melodic vocal style."
Produced by Dave Reynolds and Steve Blaze, Day of Silver Sun is Near Life Experiences first full-length, following their earlier seven-song eponymous release, which is now a true collector's item amoungst hard rock fans.
The band has been selling out clubs in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida and the Chicagoland area.
Steve Blaze, being co-founder of Lillian Axe, is gaining new fans and, with Day Of Silver Sun, has produced a modern rock classic that has strong market potential, and, strong hard rock radio potential given Blazes proven sales record with Lillian Axe of almost one million units sold worldwide.
Near Life Experience already has a very solid fan base of their own from touring, and sales of previous seven-song CD ("the blue CD," as it is called by fans) sold over 3000 units off the Internet and stage alone, and was in the top hard rock downloads at Mp3.com in 2001.
