Lamont
Formed in March of 1998 by frontman Pete Knipfing (guitar/vocals), with Meghan McLaughlin (on drums) & Josh Kagan (bass), Lamont has come a long way from a revolving door of musicians in their first year to having the solid, crushing lineup of today. Both McLaughlin & Kagan have since left, allowing Todd Bowman (drums) and Mike Cosgrove (Bass) to take over & become one of the tightest rhythm sections known today.
In August Of 1999, Lamont released a split EP with another Boston band called Rock City Crime wave on Curve of the Earth Records, produced by Andrew Schneider (Blue Man Group, Scissorfight, Cave In, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Milligram). After touring the East Coast from Maine the Carolinas, Lamont hopped back in the studio to record their first full-length.
Population 3 (Curve of the Earth), again produced by Andrew Schneider, was released in the Fall of 2000. With rave reviews & a lot of hype, Lamont hit the road playing everywhere from Maine to Texas. They opened for such acts as Mojo Nixon, Cutthoats 9, Honky, The Drive By Truckers, The Reverend Horton Heat, Bottom, The Go, & Juceifer, they were also invited to play at The Emissions From The Monolyth Festival in Youngstown, Ohio, which involved every band that matters in the Heavy Rock genre, as well as getting to record a ZZ Top track ("Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings") on the Sucking the 70s compilation released on Small Stone Records. After all the smoke cleared, it was time for Lamont to hit the studio once again.
Which brings us to the release of their brand new CD, Thunderboogie, just released on Traktor 7 Records and again produced by Andrew Schneider. After building their credibility & writing more songs that wanna make you get drunk, get laid, & drive real fast (all at one time, of course), Lamont looks forward to hitting the road once again to let everyone know that Thunderboogie is the sound!
