Forty Winks

Forty Winks offically started writing their own songs at the very beginning of 1998, after a month of partying and playing punk rock classics as a cover band, they changed their tune. They decided to be a "real band." A definite refinement of their style and an obvious musical growth takes us to March 1999, birth date of their first self-titled demo CD that helps them get recognized around Italy; and so by touring, they quickly sold all 500 copies of it in a few weeks. After a jam-packed winter spent playing in all the clubs they possibly could and gaining a following, Spring of 2000 starts off on a bad note: the cancellation of the Italian leg of the Homegrown/Jeffries Fan Club tour which featured our foursome as the opening act. So the winter comes and the boys play along the charismatic Chixdiggit, the very choral Midtown, Undeclinable Ambuscade; during these performances, the boys won the crowds over by playing their new and emotion driven songs that converted many an attendee. They signed to the U.S. label End Records in 2001, released their second full-length in early 2002, and have a 7 inch coming out on Asian Man in 2003. Forty Winks is doing another European tour in November, so please come say hi if you live in the land of the mighty Euro. Forty Winks is also coming stateside if all goes well. Note: The August 2002 issue of Alternative Press named us one the 25 international bands to take over the U.S. (with bands like The Hives and The Hellacopters)!
