Eyelash
Described by various reviewers as a band which "sets lyrics like stream-of-consciousness poetry over twangy riffs with a boiling rhythm section," Eyelash has built a following at clubs in New York City including Arlene Grocery, Meow Mix, Continental, Elbow Room and CBGB." Eyelash was selected as "Band of the Week" on "Women of MP3.com" in October 2000. On their first EP "The Cover-Up," Eyelash unleashes a flurry of hypnotic grooves and buzz-saw guitars, creating a dark urban landscape full of contrasting melodies and rhythms. Eyelashs lyrics provide biting commentary on topics such as womens magazines, sexual obsession and the merge of politics and celebrity culture. Eyelashs music is also featured on the compilation cd, "Audio Venus, Vol. 1."
Drummer Chris De Rosa is an alumni of Berklee College of Music and a veteran of the New York music scene who has lent his skills to Deborah Harry, Camper Van Beetoven, the Spin Doctors and Dee Dee Ramone. Eyelashs founder, singer and bassist Pascale Jean Louis has been compared to latter-day Patti Smith. Currently, Eyelash is producing their first full-length cd, titled "Eat Your Makeup" which is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2002.
