Blocko
South Londons Blocko have created quite a buzz in the short time they have been together. After several successful support slots (including Hot Water Music and Leatherface, and a UK tour supporting Southport) Boss Tuneage released the debut "Wager" 7", featuring two tracks from the bands demo, which sold out within three weeks just by mail-order and gigs alone.
Steve Lamacq featured the band in his "Unsigned" section on The Evening Session, but it wasnt going to remain like that for long, and Boss Tuneage happily snapped the band up the next week.
Oimo is the bands first full official release (licensed to Does Everyone Stare? in North America), featuring six tracks which show their own unique style, heavily influenced by the likes of Leatherface, Drive, Hooton 3 Car, Broccoli, and Jawbreaker. A subsequent UK tour took place in Fall 2002 with Strike Anywhere. A follow-up full length album is expected by summer 2003 and, if everything goes well, European and American touring.
"London has needed a band like Blocko for ages, and fuck me does it have one now. I really can't get over how great this is a release, BUY THIS!" Fracture
