Against Tomorrow's Sky
We take our name from the song "Sweet Thing," written by the legendary songwriter Van Morrison. Although this song may not be suggestive of our sound, it is suggestive of our varied influences and more importantly of our "intention" - which is to craft songs with just as much genuine mood and emotion as "Sweet Thing."
Placing any kind of music directly under one genre or category (esp. when it's your own) is difficult, so instead we just ask that you listen and decide for yourself. By listening, we hope the effort we've made to instill melodic songs with as much heart as we can without resorting to lyrical clichés and exaggerated angst will come across. To us, melody and lyrics are just as important as loud guitars.
Since forming in the spring of 2000, we have written nearly two album's worth of material, played regularly throughout Colorado and some adjoining states. We also have two independent releases, and one with East Coast label, Universal Warning Records, out of Pennsylvania. Our first CD on U.W.R. is entitled ...and jump the hedges first and will be released in July of 2002.
We have played with such diverse acts as Spoon, Cursive, The Good Life, Dressy Bessy, Slackjaw, Planes Mistaken For Stars, and The Pattern.
