Wednesday Night Heroes

In the City of Champions, where the Oilers are still revered as the greatest thing to hit hockey; where winters are sub-zero and summers are swelteringly hot, there is a vibrant music scene. Over the years Edmonton has seen some amazing bands, but none can compare to the youthful energy and passion of today’s reigning champs, the Wednesday Night Heroes. Although still young in age as well as at heart (check out the "No Regrets For Our Youth" 7" EP as testimony to that!), the Heroes have been honing their skills on the vast Canadian prairies for many years now, having been in bands collectively since the early years of junior high school. When most kids are worrying about what to wear hanging out at the mall, these guys were checking out the latest sounds of punk rock and searching out the classics from days gone by. From the early days of rough, primal and youthful noise they were making, the Heroes have become a cohesive unit of energetic and melodic ’80s-style punk rock. Since the release of their debut self-titled CD with Longshot Music (licensed on LP by Blind Beggar Records out of Germany) in the summer of 2001, the Heroes have embarked on 2 cross-country tours (including the US on the latest one) and graced many a stage with their presence. The future is wide open for the Heroes as they make plans to unleash their follow up album soon...
