Travoltas
Best described as a mix between the Beach Boys, Ramones, and Weezer, Travoltas defy the emo trend and breath new life into whats left of the punk music scene. Hailing from Amsterdam, Travoltas have packed several releases under their belt since their 1990 inception. By 1996, the band had released several singles and their first full-length, Baja California, which was an instant hit, not only in Europe, but worldwide. It even impressed Marky Ramone enough to take Travoltas out on his European tour and eventually to bring the band to NYC and produce their second full-length album Modern World.
By this time, the American release of Modern World in 1999 on Coldfront Records began exposing the band to a modest, but impressed, audience in the states, where they occasionally played shows and festivals. Then Roadrunner signed the band, and hired Perry and Vince as the producers. The next CD Teenbeat, like Modern World, was released by Coldfront in the US bringing Travoltas closer to their inevitable U.S. takeover.
While still unavailable in USA, Travoltas released another album in 2001 Club Nouveau, " a somewhat experimental project. However, the release still won over the press. Oor (Hollands largest music publication), called the CD an "ambitious masterpiece."
Roadrunner days concluded in early 2002, as the band focused on the US by signing with Fastmusic and planning their first full U.S. tour. The newest effort, Endless Summer, is their sixth full-length and includes everything youd ever expect to hear from Travoltas. The album has come to represent more than the songs. The CD represents the most aggressive touring schedule the band has embarked upon, including an eight week U.S. tour, followed by another two months in Europe.
Whats next for Travoltas? Touring. Recording. Touring. Recording. Touring. You get the picture.
