The Means
Tmeans is composed of former members of Columbus Bob City, Bloody Matt Dillons, Velveteens, Este Louder, and of the Spiveys (Chicago). This colaberation has as such spanned two years and seen two independant releases: A full-length CD (vil/viol on Doubleplusgood out of Minneapolis) and a four-song EP (Rooster Cow Records out of Chicago). Notable bands with whom theyve hsared the stage: Liars, Rye Coalition, Pleasure Forever, Demoliton Doll Rods, Pilot to Gunner, and Geraldine.
Bob City and the Spiveys broke up, both bands had been slugging away at the road and releasing records for five years or more before the shit hit the fan. When it did, Brad (B.City) called Jason (Spiveys), Jason called the label, Brad called Emily and Dave, Jason called the studio, the name "Spiveys" was scribbled out and above it Kris Poulin (sound-smith and un-official fifth member) wrote "the Means." Two months later, the basics were done, and the band was out on the road playing shows that would establish them as "local" in both Chicago and Columbus. An amalgamation of equal parts from each of it members, the Means becomes a cocktail of influences that even when stirred together in a vigorous blur remain dicernable, imperative. If the spectrum of modern music were to be laid out flat on the ground in a circle, and if at the very center of that circle there were a needle, at the very tip of that needle would be the Means, balancing, teetering only inches above everything.
