Spickle

It began when Paul and Brett lived in opposite sides of a shotgun double (which should have been condemned) on Foucher Street in N.O., LA. There was no A.C., dilapidated windows, leaky plumbing, but bands could practice there. Paul and Bret had been jamming in a band called Brotherhood of Ignorance and later in another called Dulac Suede. Gregg and Kenny were in Thermos at the time. Having known one another from the New Orleans Decatur Street scene, the guys all shared a practice room in Paul’s house, which eventually became Kenny and Gregg’s house for a time. At that time Kenny and Paul started jamming with Marc Schultz (Dulac’s drummer and later, Thermos’ drummer) who played bass in Cottonmouth, a three-piece instrumental band that played one forty-five minute set at one show and didn’t really play at the practice room after that. Then, Thermos broke up and Gregg went on to play with The Bump Daddies. Meanwhile, Kenny and Paul continued to jam together, as did Paul and Brett. Kenny and Paul continued to jam instrumentally with two other guys, Danny and Durel of Suplecs, who shared the practice room.

Collectively, Paul, Kenny, Danny, and Durel played for about a year as N.O. Industry, another instrumental experiment that didn’t last. "It wasn’t broken. We tried to fix it. We broke it! "
