Sixty Watt Shaman

Sixty Watt Shaman embodies not only rock's supreme eclectic potential, but its incredible range of emotive release on all levels. Under the guidance of production guru Scott Reeder (also Unida and ex-Kyuss bassist), Sixty Watt Shaman have created one of the most engaging and well rounded rock experiences of recent memory in Reason to Live.

Formed just over six years ago, Sixty Watt Shaman have grown far beyond any overt comparison to their influences, yet they've absorbed the best of just about every worthy rock act ever to plug into tube amps. The credit for that multidimensional magic has everything to do with the diversity of the parts that form the whole: vocalist Dan Kerzwick and guitarist Joe Selby both kneel at the altar of the blues, southern rock and dynamic late ‘60s/early ‘70s rock and roll, Rev. Jim Forrester is thoroughly infused with a metallic will and possesses the aggressive Burton/Butler spirit of bass playing, while drummer "Minnesota" Pete Campbell holds it all together with tasteful flair and pure backwoods muscle.

With Reason to Live, the Maryland natives prove themselves true masters of balancing explosive aggression with a more refined, yet equally powerful side that ably embraces subtler roots. With material ranging from the fierce blues swing and metal crush of "Horse You Rode In On" to the quiet and dexterous southern-fried sensibilities of "The Mill Wheel" and "Breathe Again" to the pummeling title track riffage, Reason to Live ups the ante immeasurably for the band.

The power and freedom of rock 'n roll has been given a worthy voice in Sixty Watt Shaman. They stand as a testament to the pure rock conviction when many turn away or dilute. Their vision and ability seem able to take them any place they desire and helps to make it possible for us to unlock those same doors within ourselves.
