Lamont
A rattlesnake venom spiked cocktail of full-throttle punknroll energy bursts laced with dirty metallic swagger and served up straight with a R&B twist, Lamont take rocknroll to the next level right over the top.
In the spring of 99, Lamont recorded their first EP, a split with hometown heroes Rock City Crimewave, on local label Polterchrist records. "We love playing with Crimewave, and I think our music matches really well with theirs," says Pete. The EP was met with positive reviews and Lamont were warmly welcomed into the Boston rock community. They then set out to do what they do best: rock out live.
In the fall of 2000, Lamont releases their first full length CD, Population 3, on Curve of the Earth records. The record is a10 song rip-ride of hell raising, barn storming rocknroll, as Lamont barrel through a Southern-fried apocalypse complete with flaming skulls, motorcycles, rock chicks, the devil, and a scorching Cult cover. Although the sound is uniquely Lamont, the bands myriad influences permeate the blistering atmosphere AC/DC, Motörhead, Speedealer, Guns N Roses and even a little surf and country thrown into the mix.
The albums cover features a lonesome Lamont sign in the middle of a deserted highway. "Yeah, its a real place," says Todd, "with only three people in it. Since were a power trio, it was perfect." "Im really happy with the record," Pete states. "I think it blazes." Lamont celebrated the records release with a live in-studio performance on Boston radio station WFNX, which was broadcasted to over 30,000 people, and with a triumphant Thanksgiving blowout, culminating in a medley of breakneck Metallica covers. The band plan on extensively touring Population 3.
The windfall of profits from the crawling-towards-gold Population 3, along with the general success of Mikes whoring around, have afforded Lamont the luxury of a gleaming new 4-wheeled death machine, and they will soon be unleashed a nationwide assault on the barnyards and cocaine bars alike. They are also working on growing unruly beards, and someday hope to get drunk with ZZ top. Or at least with ZZ Top on the radio.
