Ironboss
To borrow from Aerosmith, well let the music do the talking
Ironboss Rides Again, as a pure rock document, should indeed speak for itself. With the basic tracks recorded in less than eight hours, this album is an example of methodology nearly forgotten in the present musical climate. And though there are indeed numerous bands working with what could essentially be considered a rock aesthetic, most are doing little more than aping - to the best of their ability - retro styles, from the Dead Boys, Heartbreakers, MC5, and Stooges school of skinny-boy wastoids, to Sabbath and Blue Cheer clones, and redneck-for-a-day weekend-warriors trying Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet on for size. Because Ironboss stands deliberately apart from any existing scene, and couldnt care less about inserting its sound in a particular equation, what emerges is a genuine, thumping band - and album - that will bear out against the tests of time and fashion. Sure, youll hear snippets of the bands essential roots - whether 80s DC punk bands like Ignition, Soulside, and Dag Nasty, or antiques like Cactus, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, the James Gang, Thin Lizzy, Saxon, or Iron Maiden, but Ironboss is Ironboss. This is the real thing. Enjoy and get it on! Originally released on TSB Records in the UK last Spring to uniformly excellent reviews, this remastered version licensed from Iron Empire to Reptilian contains three bonus tracks, two from the session, and one live from the Middle East in Cambridge, Massachussetts.
