Flash Bastard
Vancouver, Canada is a city of rain and hippies, and as Im sure you can imagine, to be born and bred in such an environment can really fuck you up. Being constantly pelted with water gives you the impression you are under attack, while having peers who do nothing but smoke pot and debate issues that havent been relevant in 30 years leaves you with the feeling that nothing today matters. It was these two feelings that brought Flash Bastard together in 1992. Their mission was simple - they wanted revenge.
Whats happened since then is too convoluted a tale to tell here, but some of the highlights include: A near riot in Kelowna when the band decided to masturbate on stage. A role in the classic punk film Hard Core Logo. A record contract with Nikki Sixxs Americoma records and a subsequent North American tour with Mötley Crüe and the Scorpions. Being kicked off said tour for harassing, insulting and physically threatening the Scorpions. A show in Calgary in which skin-slashing antics left the stage in blood. Being pelted with bottles in Denver when the band decided it would be more fun to insult the audience rather than play music. And a homecoming show in which the fights outnumbered the songs played. By 2000, it was too much insanity and not enough music, so the band split up and was dropped by their label.
However, if one has a true calling in life, they dont choose it, it chooses them. So in 2001, unable to stop themselves, Flash Bastard returned more concerned with rock n roll then revenge. They recorded their soon-to-be released second record, Bastard Radio and signed with Longshot Music. Where the story goes from here is anyones guess. But so long as the rain pelts and the hippies whine on the streets of Vancouver, Flash Bastard will be here.
