Below the Sound
In late 1999, the power-house noise-punk trio Below The Sound emerged from the desert oasis of Albuquerque, NM, when brothers Chris & Brian Roy (ex-Mindwar from the east coast) met Dennis Ponozzo (ex-The Resistance from the mid-west). The unabashed musical aggression followed...
Soon, their stripped-down recipe of noisy but precise guitar work, groovy, overly-distorted bass and pounding yet atypical drum smashing started to gain them respect and contempt in the underground scene. Combine that with Ponozzo's double-edged, intelligent libretto and you have the formula for some of the most unforgiving and unforgettable music you will ever hear.
In the Spring of 2001, Below The Sound issued their mind-bending self-titled debut CD on Dirty Decibel Records. Constantly evolving, the band had almost outgrown their initial effort before it was even pressed. Their highly anticipated 2nd release, entitled More Like a Gunshot Than a Car Wreck, is available now on Berserker/Crucial Blast Records.
