The Sign Offs

What the hell is it about young kids from culturally dead suburban wastelands that makes for such goddamn good rock? Case in point: Cleveland’s The Sign Offs. Whereas most punk kids are happy just to dress the part and play in useless, shitty bands until banking or insurance sales brings dreary normality to their doors, this bunch of high-schoolers from way-the-hell out on the far-west side of town, knocking out quickie rock’n’roll burners inspired by the usual suspects, (D-Generation, Turbonegro, G’NR, US Bombs, AC/DC, Dead Boys) quickly matured into a powerhouse live band.

The Sign Offs are the youngest band to join Disaster Records - the singer and both guitarists just turned 18 and one of the members is still in high-school. They deliver some high-energy kick-ass punk rock rooted in their hometown’s tradition and this, their debut album is packed with explosive hard rock’n’roll.

"I often wonder where kids this young get fucking chops like this. I mean, The Sign Offs oldest member is 18, and I think a few members of this band are still in high school. But they play like they’re 30 years old and grew up on a steady diet of bands like the Stooges, Dead Boys, and Pagans. Of course, there’s a line here and there that really shows their age. You can hear some of those newer punk influences creeping in on a few tracks, but overall, this is pretty damn solid rock ‘n roll inspired punk. The Sign Offs definitely give me hope for the next generation of punk rockers." Ryan August / Punk Fix

Cleveland Free Times Editor’s Pick - Best Punk Band: The Signoffs "By way of introduction, Sign Offs guitarist Tim told us to go fuck ourselves. And while ’tude alone does not a punk band make, lest your local DMV worker be the next Jello Biafra, the Sign Offs have the callused-fingertip chops to back up the sass. Their raw rock randiness could make the Dead Boys roll in their grave."
