Halfway To Gone
"If you havent already heard of Halfway To Gone, you have only yourself to blame. Theyve been to your town. Trust us, theyve been to your town. Ever since the release of their debut EP (Split EP with Alabama Thunderpussy), the club circuit is just about all these New Jersey boys have known for the last two years. Well, touring, drinking, boot-stomping and, bone-crunching guitar licks that would put Leadbelly himself to shame.
Since their inception, Halfway has evolved from your run-of-the-mill heavy on the heavy riff-laden stoner rock band into something more than the sum of its parts. Second Season follows in the tradition of its predecessor (2001s High Five) with 1000 watts of attitude and ten times that in adrenaline, but also acts as a showcase for Lou Gorras truly mind- boggling songwriting abilities. Second Season is full of the heavy, hooky, backwoods sounds that have thrilled HTG fans around the world, yet also shows their versatility. Switching in a heartbeat from the heavy, to straight-up blues, then back to the heavy without batting an eye, and even exploring the blurry line between the guitar solo and the innermost reaches of deep space, Lou and the boys have delivered an album that defies classification.
Halfway To Gone arent celebrating over the completion of this opus (Well, maybe just a little more whiskey). In fact, 2002 is going to look a lot like last year for the band. It may or may not be the same cast of road buddies (Alabama Thunderpussy, Five Horse Johnson, Dixie Witch, etc) but its destined to be another 1000 miles of road ahead. Halfway hit the road in March with Suplecs and the album hit stores in April.
"In a nice neat nutshell, some good ol fashioned Southern Rock with a metal tinge and Lou Gorras amazing vox. A great listen." -Chris Barnes, Custom Heavy
"Halfway to Gone are folks who sincerely want to kick your dick or tits off with their power groove." -Erik Larsen (ATP)"
