Asciento
Scrapped from the bowels of good music and substance abuse comes some strange new music... Asciento...
To call it a band would be a lie... to call it a project would be selling themselves short... "Its my life amplified," says singer Jason Celat. "And fortunately, the people I have worked with have helped me get it out there with a certain commitment to my vision." That vision started with some songs that ended up being the first EP Some Come Home, a half hour introduction to the world of ugly people leading ugly lives but trying to fid some beauty in it. The EP was welcomed with open arms by radio stations WBCN, WFNX, WAAF, WMFO, WMLN to name a few and received enough attention that the usual ritual of sitting by a payphone on Saturday night was replaced with a pretty busy gigging schedule. Everywhere from Bills Bar, T.Ts and the Middle East... to the Continental in NY and the Met in Providence, RI. While including shows in Vermont, New Hampshire,Virginia and all over Massachusettes, the band has gotten some miles under its belt. There was the Tower Records instore, playing live on WAAF, and yes, even throwing their own underground parties. There have been some good things written about them and there have been some not-so-good things written about them... either way they have been written about. There have been a couple of compilations, but who wants to hear about those anymore...
Always quick to point out they never play the same set twice and well-known for their work ethic, this group is going to let you know they are serious about the music they are making... and what they are working on now is Seppuku. The first of three new EPs, each with special wowee packaging and including five new songs. There will be East Coast dates for Winter and Spring 02 and a home video is in the works. Also keep an eye out for the new MP3 compilation available through Lollipop Magazine and a benefit at the Somerville Theather in May/ June.
