Liars Academy

Liars Academy is a melodic rock outfit hailing from Baltimore, MD. The Academy formed during the fall of 2000, following the breakup of frontman Ryan Shelkett and drummer Evan Tanner's previous band, Cross My Heart. Shelkett and Tanner joined forces with friend Matt Smith of Richmond-based Strike Anywhere and the trio quickly produced a batch of inspiring, heartfelt songs that will surely impact the current state of indie rock.

Although featuring members of Cross My Heart (Deep Elm) and Strike Anywhere (Jade Tree), Liars Academy is a band whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This is demonstrated on their debut full length on Equal Vision Records, No News is Good News (evr 65). The Academy chose renowned producer Drew Mazurek (Jawbox, Texas is The Reason) to man the board for their highly anticipated freshman offering. No News... clearly showcases the band's polished, melodic, hook-laden sound that will appeal to fans of all realms of the independent music world. Look for Liars Academy on tour this winter and spring 2002.
