Budda-Bang!
Relentless, Psychedelic, Monster-Slide, Distorted Guitar...Attack!
Led by the outrageous, slide guitar acrobatics of el Jéfe Sativa, BUDDA-BANG! slid onto the NYC underground scene in the mid 90s with the song "Hairball or Puke?", a cascading guitar homage to feline regurgitation, along with the mind-blowing cd odyssey, SONIC DECAYED - a realization of a state of mind and a statement of realization, a pressure wave of sounds for the new millennium and a personification of big apple slice o life decadence. Originally a 5-piece band featuring el Jefe on slide guitar/vocals and Cleveland Christie on guitars, BUDDA-BANG! starred 7-year-old guitar sensation Pepito Maldonado, and his cousins, 12 year-old twin sisters Lucinda and Melinda Sanchez on bass and drums, respectively. These days, el Jefe performs solo noise guitar ambience or with a multiformity of Budda-Bangers.
The first 7" single, "Hairball or Puke?" b/w the stampeding, elastic guitar sounds of "Beat Plastic," contained a free sample of fake vomit, and is available through the bands website.
BUDDA-BANG! also released a video for "Hairball or Puke?," featuring trippy stop-motion animation courtesy of Voltaire, and has often been called one of the greatest indie videos ever made.
BUDDA-BANG! is for anyone who wants to musically hallucinate with something other than the typical pop fodder, pre-packaged fluff that the major labels guarantee will sell through their narrow-minded network of categorized crap. Budda-Bang!, frying your brain like eggs on drugs.
