Asciento
Jason Celat: Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Noise
Paul Meyers: Drums
Lauren Riley: Cello
Scraped from the bowels of good music and substance abuse comes some strange new music... Asciento...
To call it a band would be a lie, to call it a project would be selling themselves short. "It'sd my life amplified" says singer Jason Celat and "fortunately the people I have worked with have helped me get it out there with a certian commitment to my vision." This vision started with some songs that ended up turning into "Some Come Home," a half hour introduction into the lives of ugly people leading ugly lives but still trying to find some beauty in it. The e.p. was welcomed with open arms by radio stations WBCN, WFNX, WAAF, WMFO, WLMN to name a few and recieved enough attention that the usual ritual of sitting by the payphone on Friday nights has turned into a pretty busy gigging schedule. Aciento has played everywhere from TT's and the Middle East to Jaques and the MET in Providence, including shows in New York, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and all over Massachusetts.
There have been some good things written about them and some not so good things written about them, either way they have been written about. There have been a couple of compilations, but who cares about those anymore. Always quick to point out that they never play the same set twice, and well known for their over aggressive postering techniques, this group is going to let you know they care about the music they are making. And what they 're making now is "Seppuku" a new collection of songs to be released as CD singles. Each with special wowee packaging including two new songs and a third from a live performance or radio show, possibly something obscure or maybe somethign you've heard before, who can tell. All in all there will be some surprises. Also keep an eye out for a 15-20 minute video with some footage shot by the band and a collection of situations better left off the camera, just for you, see you in the trenches.
