New Order singer Bernard Sumner has such a beautiful, distinctive voice, he could read the troubleshooting FAQs for your iPod and we'd listen, enraptured. It's pretty impossible to judge Never Cry Another Tear without context (I played it for a 14 year old neighbor, and he thought it was good Britrock, and the singer was good, but kind of light and girlie. Someone else thought it was the new Idlewild.), so don't even try. Just enjoy.
