Cheap Shots and Low Blows

TKO Singles & EPs Collection #1 1997-1998 (TKO)
by Scott Hefflon

Rare and way outta print stuff, this. Cheap Shots and Low Blows compiles the first nine 7"s and EPs TKO released '97-'98. There's a really warm sound to these tunes, as you'd expect from early stabs by Oi/street punk bands. Unlike a lot of the polished, hugely-produced punk about (even from some of these bands, once they got a larger budget to play with), most of these 28 songs have somewhere between a "shitty" punk sound and an authentic "what can ya do for us for $150?" sound. Loose and angrily fun, the way you wanna remember it. One to four songs each from One Man Army, The Forgotten, Workin' Stiffs, Templars, Lower Class Brats, Anti-Heros, Dropkick Murphys, The Bodies, Dead End Cruisers, The Randumbs, The Truents.
