Riverboat Gamblers

To The Confusion of Our Enemies (Volcom)
by Scott Hefflon

If more bands on the Warped Tour were as ballsy as the Riverboat Gamblers, the tour wouldn't be such a joke. The once mighty melodic punk bands of yore are now too old to jump around like they once did, and most have gone on to writing power pop, offering their dwindling fan-base gorgeous acoustic versions of pop gems were are "punk" only cuz they had a pounding beat and layered harmonies. The Riverboat Gamblers are energetic, anthemic, and singalongable without being hoaky, and they're tough without being gargled-glass street punk, all "look, I have a mohawk. Tuff, huh?" Straddling the fine line between melodic punk and good-time Texas kick-ass, Riverboat Gamblers are the band you wanna play at parties to keep things rolling.
