Hoot Island

by Chad Van Wagner

Want to know what sucks about porn? No sense of humor. I know. Laughing during sex is not generally considered a good thing. Bear with me. Hoot Island is certainly an oddity. No, this isn't some fetish site. It's basically devoted to pictorials of young nubiles disrobing while in the act of laughing. If this sounds like it wouldn't work, check it out. If nothing else, it shows how completely formulaic adult entertainment has become, with calculated grunts and unlikely, yet repetitive, scenarios. Browsing through archives of naked women who are actually, clearly enjoying themselves is such a breath of fresh air that I've actually gotten to the point that I frequent the site as per habit, which I don't do very often.

There's more than nudity, although, to be fair, it took me a while to figure that out. There are parodies (you can get yourself a Real Hamster, just so long as you don't tell me what you intend to do with it). My personal favorite is the Patron Saints page, where Groucho Marx (really!), Madonna, Mae West, and others get their due alongside THE Patron Saint of Hoot Island, Asia Carrera. If you watch porn at all, you've probably seen her, uh, work. But, for some reason, she actually seems hotter sans makeup, making a singularly unattractive face at the camera, as she is in several of the shots featured here.

No, I can't explain why, but there you go. Roger "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls" Ebert once said you can't argue with an erection, and if it works, it works. Hoot Island works.
