Sabers

Specter (Neurot)
by Craig Regala

THIS is textured groove vs. "ambient" rock titled stuff. Like some early 20th century Swedish classical stuff or many of the titles on the ECM jazz/classical/improv/space label, you get your "drifting in the sunshine," your "it's getting dark," your "crashing icebergs that melt and revolve," while you hope to drift in the sunshine again. I love this. Almost like I loved that piece named "fogtropes." It's on the ECM/New Age side of things - being a chunk of music based on ocean waves, a lighthouse, a foghorn, and something representing the rise of a monster dormant for a hundred thousand (or so) years.
