Noise Rachet

(The Militia Group)
by Lauren Bussard

Upon first listen, I heard only toneless screaming, but I think that might've been the influence of the unconscious associations I made with their name (ratchet... racket... noisy racket = bad). After I listened again, I recognized the gorgeous, fluid harmonies and chunky guitars, and I'm now pleased to say that Noise Ratchet's second, self-titled album is a gem disguised as bad grunge rock. Kinda Like: Further Seems Forever, Thursday, The Julianna Theory, AFI being really, really emotional.
