Potential New Agent for Unconventional Warfare (Tortuga)
by Scott Hefflon

A cross between nü metal breakdown stomp and Southern-fried dirt rock kick-ass, Scissorfight are a rare band for both knuckledragging groove-metalers and shaggy stoner/hard rockers. And chicks, let's not forget that Scissorfight brings out the hotties. This six-song EP (who's traditional long-winded title is the CIA's reference to LSD-25 - the subject of Ironlung's master's thesis, one of many signs that this band, while dirty, guttural, and snarling, is brighter than yer average grizzly) doesn't have as many infectious "singles" as Mantrapping for Sport and Profit, nor as many great, strolling guitar riffs that remind me of early Clutch (and now Lamont), but the EP's still better than dumb-ass nü metal or the cluelessness of many stoner rock bands. Northeast stomp boogie, perfect for your next whisky bender. Just play on repeat cuz this thing is short, and skip the "bonus" track cuz it's useless.
