Deceased

Behind the Mourner's Veil (Relapse)
by Paul Lee

I don't know if Deceased have received the respect they deserve during their 15 year history, but few bands are as truly dedicated to waging the metal battle as this quartet from Virginia. This EP is another testament to their unwavering passion and talent and contains three excellent originals plus a video track (for a creepy Blair Witch-style tale) and four covers of Tankard, Anthrax, D.R.I., and Warfare. What Deceased have over most of their ilk is that their influences run the gamut from classic metal to full-on death metal. They keep it diverse, melodic, and interesting. Continuing on the path they forged with Fearless Undead Machines and Supernatural Addiction, there seems to be no stopping these steel-reinforced rockers. Though I'd rather Behind The Mourner's Veil contained all originals, these boys crank the covers like they were getting ready for the end of the world.
