Pony Express

Monkey Hearts (Velvet Blue)
by Tim Den

Pony Express is basically Starflyer 59 switching instruments: Jeff Cloud writes the songs, plays the guitar, and sings (instead of playing bass), and Jason Martin plays the drums (instead of writing songs, playing the guitar, and singing). They sound pretty similar too, with the obvious difference being that Starflyer 59/Jason Martin's songs are a lot better. Cloud's voice is a bit weak (needing effects to cover shaky notes and delivery), but it gets the job done in achieving that Factory Records (Joy Division, New Order) feel. Minimal and very low-key.
