Destiny's End

Transition (Metal Blade)
by Vinnie Apicella

At the forefront of the resurgence of American power metal comes Destiny's End, featuring former Helstar vocalist James Rivera, and basically all of what once was New Eden. This fivesome born of traditional metal fury exemplifies the rising talents of carefully constructed aggression and melodic precision. Many similarities to Helstar, former speed/thrash outfit that came to be at the wrong time and was dealt the death blow before making much of an impact, but the longer this goes on, the more we find out just how important many of those seemingly insignificant acts of brevity and bravado were.

Many will recognize Destiny's End from their Breathe Deep the Dark debut of a few years ago and be thankful little has changed. With the addition of a new guitarist, their rhythmic rapidity remains unscathed. Blistering, broken and blaring tracks like "The Watcher," "The Suffering," and "Storm Clouds" cry out with a vengeance for the glory days where dreams of damnation and destiny infiltrated inspired lyrics and the world, grim and grandiose, was still an interesting place to discover...
