Apollo Four Forty

Gettin' High on Your Own Supply (Sony)
by Lex Marburger

Rather than putting electronica into rock, these guys put rock into their electronica. Two great tastes that...? Well, maybe. "Stadium Parking Lot" is cool, with a punk/metal feel, but the entire album almost got thrown in the trash when the "Lost In Space (Theme)" began to play. A shitty song for a shitty movie. Or, as my friend once said as we were leaving the theater (we're both Gary Oldman freaks), "Wow. That was two hours of... stuff." But I digress. Getting High On Your Own Supply is ultimately a commercial album, but that doesn't stop Apollo Four Forty from being a pretty decent band. And since Death In Vegas gave up their radio-friendly electro-rock stance (tho' they never really had one), and Fatboy Slim has opted for a few more commercials rather than release another album, Apollo Four Forty may very well have some spotlight time. Which would be better than hearing Prodigy's "Firestarter" on the radio another hundred times.
